  1. Being allured with the prosperity and fame of Mahanad in the 13th century the Muslim Rulers of Delhi invaded the kingdom of Gangararh and dismantled many temples, deities and buildings mercilessly reducing the area into ruins and deserted. Mahanad is now a small village under Polba police station in the district of Hooghly in West Bengal, India, inhabited by mostly poor farmers. In spite of all these, many things are still now worth seeing in Mahanad viz. the main Temple, Nat Mandir, the Deity, the temples of Annapurna, Ekpada Bhairab, Kal Bhairab, Batuk Bhairab, Bashistha Ganga, Chandraketu Daha, the seat of meditation of Minnath, Jiyat Kunda, Mukta Kunda, the Samadhi i.e. Grave of living Bashishtha Nath, the Darga of Kaziman Saheb and the ruins and relics of many temples and palace etc.
